Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place Announces Grand Opening Day – Wednesday, July 1
Premium moviegoing experience will combine luxury presentation, family-friendly pricing, and commercial-free entertainment
May 20, 2026 – Phoenix Theatres is excited to announce their flagship location at Patriot Place will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The new theatre will introduce a premium moviegoing destination to the Greater Boston area featuring luxury heated reclining seating, Dolby ATMOS immersive sound, Christie 4K digital projection, and a unique presentation philosophy designed to elevate the theatrical experience for modern audiences.
In addition to introducing a luxury cinema environment, Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place will debut family-friendly pricing designed to encourage more frequent moviegoing for families and individual guests throughout the region. The company believes that making premium moviegoing more affordable is essential to rebuilding regular moviegoing habits and making theatrical entertainment more accessible.
“Moviegoing has always been one of the great shared family experiences,” said Cory Jacobson, owner of Phoenix Theatres. “At Patriot Place, we wanted to create an opportunity for guests to enjoy a premium theatre experience at pricing levels rarely seen in the Boston market. Our goal is to make going to the movies more accessible without compromising the quality of the presentation. We believe moviegoing should be something people can enjoy regularly, not just occasionally. By offering premium entertainment at more approachable pricing, we hope to encourage families, friends, and movie fans throughout the region to return to the theatre more often and rediscover the excitement of the big screen experience.
Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place will feature Dolby ATMOS in its ENCORE auditoriums, creating a fully immersive three-dimensional sound environment that places audiences at the center of the action. Combined with a 60-foot-wide picture, Christie’s 4K Digital Cinema projection and newly developed micro-perforated screens, the theatre is designed to deliver exceptional large format picture clarity, sound performance, and cinematic immersion.
“At Patriot Place, our goal is simple: every guest who walks through the doors should immediately feel that this is a theatre built around comfort, immersion, and experience- a complete reimagining of what modern moviegoing can be,” said Jordan Hohman, Senior Vice President of Project Development for Phoenix Theatres. “At the center of that will be four premium large format auditoriums we call Encore.”
ENCORE auditoriums will feature specialized acoustic treatments, immersive black-box design elements, and distraction-free environments designed to maximize picture quality and sound performance. Heated reclining loveseats, a signature feature of Phoenix Theatres, will be available in every seat in every auditorium.
“People always tell us they get chilly in the auditoriums- even in the summer. The heated seats add a level of comfort and temperature control to the moviegoing experience,” said Hohman.
In a move that challenges one of the most accepted norms in modern moviegoing, Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place is also eliminating all pre-show commercial advertising from its presentations.
“That means no commercials. No long blocks of advertising before your film begins. Just movie trailers and your feature presentation,” said Hohman. “In many ways, it’s a return to something audiences have been quietly asking for- a more respectful theatrical experience, where when showtime arrives, the show actually begins.”
Phoenix Theatres believes removing pre-show advertising allows audiences to settle in, disconnect from distractions, and fully anticipate the feature presentation. The company hopes this philosophy will help redefine the modern moviegoing experience by emphasizing atmosphere, presentation quality, and respect for the audience.
Phoenix Theatres has also incorporated classic theatrical design inspiration into the Patriot Place location. The theatre lobby will feature a vintage-inspired exposed marquee bulb entrance with animated lighting sequences designed to evoke the grand movie palaces of the past while creating a unique identity for the new location.
“Movie theatres were once synonymous with grand entrances and a sense of showmanship,” Jacobson said. “We wanted Patriot Place to develop a personality all its own while bringing back some of the excitement and visual spectacle that made going to the movies feel truly special.”
“Phoenix Theatres shares our passion to create the ultimate guest and family experience, with that commitment demonstrated through their immersive moviegoing experience at family-friendly prices,” said Brian Earley, Vice President and General Manager of Patriot Place. “Their multimillion-dollar investment in the theatre coupled with their innovative initiative to eliminate all pre-show commercial advertising will create a premier moviegoing destination unlike anywhere else in the region. We’ve got our popcorn ready to enjoy the show alongside our guests and celebrate the grand opening on July 1.”
Phoenix Theatres at Patriot Place will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 30 at 6:00 PM. The theatre will officially open to the public on Wednesday, July 1 at 9:00 AM with the premieres of Universal Pictures’ “Minions & Monsters” and Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated “Disclosure Day,” both featuring Dolby ATMOS presentation.
The July summer film lineup will also include Walt Disney’s live-action “Moana,” Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” and Sony/Marvel Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place will offer the following ticket pricing:
- $7 tickets for children ages 11 and under all day
- $7 tickets for seniors ages 65 and over all day
- $8 general admission matinees before 5:00 PM
- $10 general admission for evening showtimes beginning after 5:00 PM
