Congratulations to Closing Time the Elite Division Champions of the 2012 Pond Hockey Tournament at Patriot Place.
After four days of competitive play and Mother Nature taking her toll on the rink, the Elite Division had their playoff rounds on Saturday, where we saw some tiebreakers taking place. Slug N’ Plug beat the Cape Cod Cubs and needed Closing Time to get a goal differential under 27. This wasn’t the case, as Closing Time routed out the Cubs, 49-17, and eliminated Slug N’ Plug from playoff contention. Next, we had Closing Time and the MAARNG Redlegs faceoff, and the winner would face the number 1 seed STS in the championship. The Redlegs were short players, but still had 4 guys to play. They kept up with Closing Time for the entire game, but ran out of steam in the end. Closing Time beat the Redlegs, 29-23, to advance to the finals. The championship game started with quick goals from both Closing Time and STS, both matched each other’s play with competitive offensive and defensive abilities. After Closing Time had a solid lead against STS, they controlled the clock and held a comfortable lead as the buzzer sounded, 27-18, to win the title. |

| Congratulations to Eaglebrook the Competition Division Champions of the 2012 Pond Hockey Tournament at Patriot Place.
While 25,000+ fans packed Gillette Stadium for the Patriots send off, it also featured the playoffs for the Competition Division. One of the bigger games besides the championship featured the Shamrocks and Eaglebrook. Both teams went into the matchup at 2-0 and each team needed a win to face Joe’s for the championship. Spectators began piling in for the big game and the game was underway. Eaglebrook controlled the game for the most part, with their two-way game outperforming the Shamrocks’ play. The Shamrocks kept it close for the first half, but the second half was all Eaglebrook. The goals piled up on their end and they beat the Shamrocks, 27-17, where Jim’s Bodyworks awaited the Shamrocks. The ice was made the water settled in as the two teams took to the ice. Eaglebrook took an early 1-0 lead, but Joe’s responded quickly and tallied 2 unanswered goals to make it a 2-1 game. The game continued going back and forth, with both teams making ridiculous game saving stops. Eaglebrook pulled away with the victory, 23-14, to win the Competition Division.
